Middletown Monarchs Softball was first established in the summer of 2020 with a 10U team by Wesleyan University Head Coach Jen Lane. Now in our fifth season, we have expanded to four softball teams – 10U, 11/12U, 13U & 14U. Our teams play a competitive schedule, including several tournaments and local doubleheaders. For the first time this summer, our teams are playing out of state – our 13U team is traveling to Maine and our 14U team is playing in the USSSA Nationals in Maryland at the end of July.

Tryouts are held at the end of July/beginning of August for the following season. Fall ball practices begin at the end of August with games starting at the beginning of September and running through the end of October. In the fall, the Monarchs typically play weekend doubleheaders along with a few tournaments.

We begin winter practices indoors in mid-January until we can get outside at the end of March/beginning of April. Games will begin in April and will continue through the end of July. Our younger girls who play Monarchs are encouraged to play Little League Softball as well. (The older teams with high school players will not start practicing/competing until the high school season is finished.)

The goal for Monarchs Softball is for girls from Middletown and surrounding towns to increase their skill level and knowledge of the game. We will promote good sportsmanship, strong fundamentals and a team first mentality. We expect the girls to work hard, have good attitudes and have fun!
